Tourist attractions in Cologne

There are so many nice places to visit in Germany but I know how hard it is to choose from so many beautiful cities to visit.

With a predominantly Catholic population, Cologne offers visitors an impressive number of churches and cathedrals. One of the oldest churches in Cologne is Krieler Domchen, built in 900.

The churches:

  • St. Cecilia,
  • St. Mary,
  • St. Andrew
  • Hohe Domkirche St. Peter und Maria (known as the Kölner Dom, or The Cathedral of Cologne), the largest religious building in the city.

The city itself is a charming cultural attraction, offering both residents and tourists great cultural monuments and beautiful places for relaxation: numerous parks, the botanical garden, the zoo, The Cologne Opera and other musical centers, museums (Romisch-Germanisches Museum, Wallraf-Richartz Museum, Schnutgen Museum) and theaters (Hänneschen Puppet Theatre, Theatre Arkadas and more).

Wondering what is the best time to visit Cologne? The Cologne Carnival, which takes place here every year starting with 11th of November, when masquerades are organized and the streets are fully animated, is certainly the choice for a holiday to remember!
